Century Vallen recently featured Felton Brushes' latest innovations in brush safety at the 2012

Saskatchewan Safety Council Seminar held February 6, 2012.

Over 750 delegates from companies in the province had the opportunity to learn that the safest wire wheel products are made right here in Canada by Felton Brushes Limited. Delegates actually had a chance to spin newly designed power brushes from Felton, and were treated to preliminary results from a McMaster University study showing that Felton's "made in Canada" end brushes only threw off 9 wires in 5 minutes verses a leading competitor's brush who discarded 133 wires in that same time period.

The Felton #187 end brush is rated at 25,000 rpm, and the rest of the brushes in the market are rated at a maximum of 20,000. The reason for this is that the brush spins truer as the brush is dynamically balanced throughout the manufacturing process. A better balanced brush results in less wire agitation and friction and less heating up which ultimately causes wire to break off and fly dangerously into the air. Less vibration also lends to less operator fatigue, and avoids costly repair to bearings in expensive die grinders. "Grinders are now available that spin in excess of maximum speed the brushes were originally meant to spin at. Felton has decided to continue to innovate and produce product that can operate safely at these high speeds. Results from Mac have been very encouraging to our team, and we look forward to completing this phase of the testing" remarked Mr. Ponikvar

Mr. Ponikvar, owner of Felton Brushes has vowed to produce a brush that throws zero wires off. This may become a possibility in the very near future as Felton is running experimentation with the Thermal Processing Lab at the McMaster University and has made great strides through new special heat treating processes which enhance elasticity of the wire, but do not sacrifice performance.

Felton Brushes has recently invested in the latest in brush making technology and updated machinery in its Hamilton Plant to become a world leader in quality and safety.

Felton Brushes are available through Century Vallen branches located across Canada.
